Walnut City Council Election Set for Apri 8.

The nomination period for candidates wanting to run is from Dec. 16 to Jan. 13.

The election for Walnut City Council has been set for April 8, 2014.

The City Council Wednesday night voted 4-0 to approve a resolution setting the election date for seats.  Councilwoman Mary Su was absent.

The nomination period for candidates wanting to run goes from Dec. 16 to Jan. 13, City Clerk Teresa De Dios wrote in a staff report to council.

Also approved 4-0 was a resolution adopting regulations for candidates' statements to be printed and mailed to voters in a sample ballot.

The seats held by Su and appointed Councilman Bob Pacheco are up for election in April. Pacheco was appointed in July to serve the remainder of former Mayor Tom King's term, who resigned after moving out of Walnut.

Pacheco said in July that he plans to run for the seat.
