Walnut residents hoping to nominate an outstanding volunteer for the Los Angeles County Fair's Community Hero honor have until May 10 to do so.
The city of Walnut issued the following press release:
Community Heroes work tirelessly to make a difference. They volunteer at our local hospitals, schools, churches and more. Consistently, they selflessly devote their time and efforts, going above and beyond without thought of reward or recognition. For example, a hero may go above and beyond their job duties and work with organizations such as Relay for Life, Pennies for Patients or the American Red Cross.
The Los Angeles County Fair seeks to honor very special individuals –adult, young adult (under 18) and senior-with a Community Hero presentation to take place on Walnut’s Day at the Fair on Thursday, September 26, 2013.
This is your chance to nominate a diligent and deserving individual whom you feel is an unsung hero and contributing to the quality of life in Walnut. Selected heroes will be honored throughout the day with a reception, parade and onstage presentation.
Make Walnut’s Day at the Fair a special, meaningful occasion by recognizing the efforts of very special people – Walnut’s Community Heroes! These true-life heroes can be found throughout the community and are wonderful examples of making your community a better place to live.
