Wood-Burning Fireplaces Ban Issued Today for Diamond Bar and Walnut

Blazing logs are a no-no until midnight tonight, as the Southland is under a "no burn order" due to smoggy skies.

Wood-fired heating was prohibited starting at midnight this morning, and will last until midnight tonight, because of high smog levels and stagnant air, said South Coast AQMD spokesman Sam Atwood.

The "no burn day" order was to be in effect in Los Angeles and Orange counties, and much of the Inland Empire, with a few exceptions, said officials at the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
