Wood-Burning Fireplaces Ban Issued Today for Diamond Bar and Walnut

Blazing logs are a no-no until midnight tonight, as the Southland is under a "no burn order" due to smoggy skies.

Wood-fired heating was prohibited starting at midnight this morning, and will last until midnight tonight, because of high smog levels and stagnant air, said South Coast AQMD spokesman Sam Atwood.

The "no burn day" order was to be in effect in Los Angeles and Orange counties, and much of the Inland Empire, with a few exceptions, said officials at the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

Persons who have wood as their sole source of heat, or those living above the 3,000-foot elevation, are exempt. Also exempt are persons with low income.

The no-burn order was also not effect in the Coachella Valley or Antelope Valley. Persons seeking information about the order can look at www.airalerts.org and enter their zip codes.

What is the fine on this? Why must the government butt into our lives so much!
Vito Spago January 12, 2014 at 11:50 AM
These guys have absolutely NO legislative control. They are like the IRS. They make up the rules as they go and woe be to anyone that crosses them and gets caught. Mostly businesses that have to worry. You can essentially ignore this fireplace rule. No one is monitoring you.

These governmental warnings are bogus, with but intention to repetitively condition us into passive submission. We have Fukushima radiation and chem-trails littering our skies, and these clowns are complaining about wood-burning smoke, which is, if you know your science, atmospherically beneficial. Watch for more to come.

Not sure I believe in the chem trails, but the fukishima radiation IS real. Radiation in the water along the coast. Contaminated fish and wind. You do not hear a thing. Not even sure where you would buy iodine. In the next few years you will gradually see cancer rates increase. You also have seen dead fish such as no sardines and dead dolphins. More whales. Perhaps there are some giant monster krill out there.

Vito, that's correct on Fukushima. Chem-trails are real though, even some high-level officials are now acknowledging their existence, 'I guess when it was becoming wildly known that people's neck can actually tilt upward and see them, the 'oh its just a contrail' talking point was lacking believability. They claim military defense purposes, but this is a multi-purpose program which could include our health.

Chem trails are a bunch of crap. Those cloudy streaks in the sky are caused by planes in the high atmosphere. Our area is in the path of 5 airports, so there's lots of contrails.

Sorry but Ray is nutty about "chemtrails". He won't change his mind no matter what you say or prove. He also is a believer in 911 conspiracy theorys as well. SCAQMD believes that Southern Calif. residents are exposed to too many small particulates even when the skies are clear and the wind is blowing. I guess you're wood fire will over whelm the dust in the air or some such thing. When they are really just trying to justify their existence as a rule making body. Especially since they can't control the real major sources of air pollution here. You know, the cars, trucks, trains, government owned power plants, the trees and vegetation, the geography, etc.

Geez so quick to wrongly judge. Sorry guys ignorance is no longer bliss, and since your mainstream media manipulated minds are beyond the mend, let's just say I disagree with your juvenile ad hominems Enjoy your normalcy bias
