Workshop to Help Residents Prepare for an Emergency

A workshop with public safety officials from agencies serving Diamond Bar will take place Wednesday, May 25 to help area residents learn strategies to prepare for and respond to a disaster.

The earthquake and tsunami in Japan has inspired and throughout Diamond Bar and Walnut, but officials are also urging area residents to look at how to prepare for disasters closer to home.

Local public safety officials will lead an emergency preparedness workshop the evening of Wednesday, May 25 at the that is open to all area residents. 

The lesson will give a general overview of natural- and man-made disasters and misconceptions with a focus on wildfires and earthquakes.

Representatives from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Sheriff's Department as well as the American Red Cross will be on hand for the event.

A raffle will be held at the conclusion of the workshop to give attendees a chance to win various emergency preparedness-related items.

Parking and admission are free and the event runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
