Diamond Bar-Walnut's Priciest Homes: 800 Meadow Pass Road

This week's featured property is the Brookside Equestrian Center in Walnut.

This week's featured "priciest home" is much more than a house.

The Brookside Equestrian Center, with a listing price of $9 million, is a Walnut landmark. The property once was owned by the Sentous family, one of the town's earlier settlers, according to the city's website.  The famiy owned the 2,200-acre Sentous Ranch.  The property later was used in the filming of "National Velvet" starring Elizabeth Taylor.

The center serves as training location for Lusitano dressage horses and for special events such as outdoor weddings and corporate parties, according to the center's website.

The property has been on the market for 46 days as of Monday, according to the listing.

If it is a landmark and a historic site new buyers cannot do anything with it. Kind of stupid for the sellers to get this designation if they want to keep its value to buyers. Seems the building must be kept and it must be kept as an equestrian center. Best sell to Knotts or Disneyland.

I would rather have it a historical landmark than to have some developer purchase the property and build a bunch of mini-mansions and therefor create more maternity hotels.

Here is the Zillow listing. Hard to say what it is worth. From prop taxes, likely bought in 1987 for about $500k. Likely worth $3-4M now, so it is extremely overpriced. It must be targeted for an Asian buyer because they do not seem to care if it is overpriced or not. Zoned for Residential so look for McMansions. I wonder if a Zen temple would go well there. http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/800-Meadow-Pass-Rd-Walnut-CA-91789/21669698_zpid/

I just visited the internet and investigated this property. Seems it has sold. Owner Keith Walton sold one parcel along Lemon for $5.3M in July 22, 2013 and the main property on Meadowpass for $9M on Oct 23, 2013 to Transglobe Investment USA Corp of Industry. Jack Su, Agent. Wonder if the city council knows the future use of this property.
