Parent activists have launched Rowland Kids First, citing concerns about the district making important decisions without community input, reported the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
The group had a meeting at a local church on Aug. 22 to share the organization's mission. Among the concerns raised has been what the group says is a not enough communication with parents on key decisions, the newspaper reported.
One of those decisions included the move to hire Superintendent Ruben Frutos in March after former Superintendent Maria Ott retired without interviewing other candidates, the newspaper reported.
