Pitzer College to Use $500,000 Gift for Conference Center

The new building is a major part of Phase II of the College's Residential Life Project, scheduled to open this fall.

Pitzer College will use a $500,000 gift from the Pitzer Family Foundation to establish the Pitzer Archive and Conference Center on campus, it was announced today.

The new building is a major part of Phase II of the College's Residential Life Project, scheduled to open this fall.

The project features four mixed-use residence halls designed to achieve platinum LEED certification, the highest possible rating from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The center will have on display photos, documents and records that reflect the college's origins and milestones. In addition, the space will be equipped with an audiovisual system to record oral histories and also will serve as a multimedia conference room.

Pitzer College was founded in 1963 by philanthropist and citrus rancher Russell K. Pitzer.
