Rowland Unified School Board Candidates Will Meet in Forum Tonight

Seven candidates are vying for three seats on the RUSD school board, which serves a portion of Walnut.

Candidates for the Rowland Unified School District Board of Education will participate tonight in a forum.

The Rowland Heights Community Coordinating Council will devote the time for its regular meeting to a Q and A session for the seven running for the school board, according to a news release.

Seven candidates are vying for three seats on the board. The Rowland Unified School District serves a portion of Walnut.

"This will be an important election," the coordinating council wrote in its announcement of the forum.

"The three candidates you elect will oversee the expenditure of nearly $1 billion during their terms, and the quality of our schools are determined by their decisions. Our children deserve the best possible schools, and good schools are also important for all residents, even those who don’t have children, because they are an important determinant of property values."

The forum will start promptly at 7 p.m. tonight at the Pathfinder Park Community Center, 18150 E. Pathfinder Road in Rowland Heights.

Attendees are advised to get there early to get a seat, as organizers expect a full house.
