Suzanne Student Earns High Honors from Johns Hopkins

Mike Bao, an 8th grader, received the International Verbal and Mathematics Talent Search award for being among the highest scoring participants in the 2012 academic year.

Suzanne Middle School 8th grader Mike Bao has been awarded High Honors by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Gifted Youth (CTY).

He received the International Verbal and Mathematics Talent Search award for being among the highest scoring participants in the 2012 academic year.

Mike has been awarded a One-Course Scholarship at Pitzer College for his outstanding ACT or SAT scores in the CTY Talent Search.

The scholarship provides tuition and fees for a single three-credit course valid through August 2014.

Mike is also a member of the school’s MATHCOUNTS and Science Olympiad teams and won medals at the 2012 State Competitions. He is also anaccomplished pianist winning numerous awards including California State Finalist at the 2012 Bach Festival Competition. He has raised money for World Vision by hosting and performing in a concert and enjoys performing at Senior Centers.

Mike and his family have been invited to attend the 2012 Grand Ceremony on October 28 at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

"In truth, there is no such thing as talent; there is only hard work,” Mike said.
