Bagai will serve until March 2014.

Walnut Elementary fifth grader teacher Seema Bagai has been named to the 2013 Scholastic Book Club Advisory Board.

She is among 23 educators from across the nation who will now be the eyes and ears in classrooms to help the company track latest trends in education.

Advisory members will work together to help influence every aspect of Scholastic Book Club, from product selection, to pricing, monthly promotions, and special offers.

The Walnut Elementary teacher will also participate in a Skype call with two Scholastic employees before the conference to discuss how books are used in her classroom and how Book Clubs can further help students’ love of reading.

Bagai, a 19-year teaching veteran, applied for the position last November and had a phone interview in February.

“Reading has always been my favorite activity. Reading aloud to my students and getting them excited about books is one of the best things about teaching,” she said.
