Walnut High Team Wins National Finance Challenge

Four Walnut High School students applied their savvy business skills and won the California Personal Finance Challenge on May 22.  

Ten teams vied in the quiz bowl challenge for cash and prizes during the event.  Students Sean Liu, Barbara Gasgonia, Kingswell Zhou and Junlong Chen won 1st Place Award and $500 each. 

Business Teacher Neil Jacoby was also awarded $500.   The competition was held at the Los Angeles Federal Reserve.

The California Council on Economic Education hosted the event organized by Elle Charles, Director of Teacher Relations.  

The team has been invited to be honored on June12 during the CFALA (Chartered Financial Analyst Society of Los Angeles) 82nd Annual Meeting of the Members at the Petersen Automotive Museum.
