U.S. Goalkeeper Hope Solo Allegedly Assaulted by Fiancé in Washington

Solo, of Richland, Wash., has been goalkeeping for the U.S. Women's National Team since 2000, according to U.S. Soccer. She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and she started every match at the London Olympics earlier this year.

Soccer star Hope Solo, the goalkeeper who helped the U.S. win gold at Wembley in the 2012 London Olympics, was allegedly assaulted early Monday in Kirkland, Wash., by her fiancé, former NFL tight end Jerramy Stevens.

Stevens was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence for allegedly striking Solo, Kirkland Patch reported Tuesday.

Solo, 31, and Stevens, 33, were planning to marry on Tuesday, Patch reported.

Kirkland police responded to a call at 3:45 a.m. Nov. 12 about a disturbance among eight people at a residence, Kirkland police spokesman Lt. Mike Murray said Tuesday.

She competed on Dancing with the Stars in Fall 2011, and she appeared nude that year in The Body issue of ESPN The Magazine. Solo and Stevens reportedly began dating after the Summer 2012 Olympics.
