What to Do at the LA County Fair, Sept. 30

The Los Angeles County Fair closes its 90th season today, your last chance for rides, carnival games and fun for another year.

So, for the last few weeks, you've been wanting to go to the Los Angeles County Fair, but put it off until later.

Today, you run out of laters.

This is the last day of the 90th edition of the fair, held at the Fairplex in Pomona. Here's the rundown of what's there to entertain you.

Today’s hours: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Today’s Deals:

  • Season Pass: presented by Walgreens, $24.99 for ages 6 and older at participating Walgreens
  • Ralphs Any-Day Tickets: admission tickets $10 for adults, $6 for ages 6-12, comes with exclusive unlimited carnival ride wristband ($35). Restrictions apply. Presented by Ralphs.
  • Costco Savings Pack: $54.99 for 4 any-day tickets, one parking pass and 44 carnival ride/game tickets. At participating Costco store.
  • Children 5 and younger are free every day.

Today’s Top Things To Do:

Earth, Wind & Fire: Closing the End of Summer Concert Series is the Grammy and American Music award winning Earth, Wind & Fire. A limited number of free general admission tickets will be available beginning at 3 p.m. at the ticket kiosk on Rose Lane. Reserved seats are available at ticketmaster.com and the Fair box office. Presented by Toyota. Concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

Sounds of Santana: Experience the SOS explosion with flowing percussion and powerful guitar solos as the band recreates the music energy and atmosphere of the original Santana band. See them on the Coca-Cola Stage. 6:30, 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. Schedule subject to change.

Cirque du Feu: Daily. Combine old school circus with modern day theatrical stunts and you get a fiery, flawless action-packed show that can’t be missed! Located at Esmeralda’s Traveling Circus. 6:30, 8:00 and 9:30 p.m. Schedule varies by day.

Hulk: Caught in the blast of gamma radiation, brilliant scientist Bruce Banner is cursed to transform in times of stress into the living engine of destruction known as the Incredible Hulk. Meet this explosive superhero in America’s Kids: A Living Library of Fun. 1:30, 2:30, 3:30, 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.

Stingray Island: Daily. The Fair brings the beauty of sea life to the mainland in the form of its new attraction, Stingray Island. Meet Ollie the octopus and Millie & Max the Morey eels. See lobsters and shrimp schools. Feed stingrays (additional fee). Divers are on-site daily.

Pizza and Salad Contests: Check out the unique pizza recipes and sensational salad entrees down at the Village on Broadway’s Culinary Styles Gourmet Kitchen. Judging begins at 1 p.m.

Wine Classes: Celebrate the last day of the fair by taking a class with wine competition honorary chairman Michael Jordan at the Wine & Spirits Marketplace. Classes offered: Wines of New Zealand, 2 p.m.; Gimme Some Sugar – Sweet Wines with Cheese!, 4 p.m.
