More Than 20 Bands to Hit Rowland High Field Saturday

The school is hosting the 43rd Annual Rowland Field Show Tournament.

More than 20 high school bands will hit the Rowland High School field at the 43rd Annual Rowland Field Show Tournament.

The event at the Rowland High Stadium, 2000 S. Otterbein Ave. in Rowland Heights, will go from 2 to 10 p.m. and is expected to draw more than 25,000 attendees, according to a news release.

The tournament is the largest fundraiser the Rowland Instrumental Music Club has each year, according to organizers.  Rowland Instrument is a booster club that supports the Rowland Raider Regiment.

Tickets are $3 for students wearing a RUSD elementary/junior high school band shirt, $5 for children ages 5-12, $10 for adults, and $5 for those 62 and older.  Admission is free for children under 5.  The programs cost $6. Monetary donations are also accepted to help support the program.

The Rowland Raider Regiment, which is under the direction of Jason Alvo, includes the award-winning marching band, concert band, color guard, dance team, drum line, and jazz band. The regiment plans to perform "The Edge of Darkness" at 8:30 p.m. The Awards Ceremony is at 9:30 p.m.
