Hot Pots at Diamond Bar, Rowland Heights Eateries Among Best in the Valley

A hot pot is a stew of vegetables, meat, and broth typically cooked at the table.

Local eateries, including one in Diamond Bar, have been named among the best places in the San Gabriel Valley to get hot pots.

The website LAist put out its list of the "10 Best Hot Pots" in the region.  A hot pot is a stew of stock, vegetables and meat common in Asia.  The ingredients are typically put into the steaming broth and cooked at the table.

Among those on the list of ten was Boiling Point, a Taiwanese-style hot pot eatery with several locations, including restaurants in Rowland Heights and Hacienda Heights. Boiling Point was ranked No. 2.

"With five locations in the SGV, Boiling Point has successfully established itself as one of the leaders of hot pot in the area," the reporter wrote. "Hot pots here are all individually heated with a flame unit under each pot. Each hot pot is customized with ingredients that blend well with your particular broth."

Diamond Bar's Paper Pot Shabu didn't make the top 10 but did receive honorable mention.

"Paper Pot Shabu is your typical hot pot with a touch of novelty," according to the site. "Your broth is boiled in a basket-weaved pot lined with wax paper instead of a traditional pot."

Have you ever tried a hot pot? Where is your go-to place for this stew?
