Jury Selection Expected to Start Today in Andrews Trial

Jury selection was expected to get underway today for the trial of former Lorbeer Middle School teacher Steven Andrews, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court officials.

Andrews, 42, is a former Lorbeer Middle School teacher, is accused of committing lewd acts on a 14-year-old female student.

He surrendered to Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station deputies on Sept. 30, 2011. He faces 17 charges, including six counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object, six counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a child, two counts of oral copulation with a child under 16, and three counts of lewd acts on a child. He pleaded not guilty in November 2011.

Last month, a Superior Court judge ruled that the trial would move forward. A pre-trial hearing was held Monday.
